The recent tensions at the top of the Premier Football League Table pale into insignificance compared to the success and failures of those at the top of Prism’s League table! After photos have been studied, members vote their top three images and the scores are added up to provide the top five out of 40-50 entries. Imagine the teeth gritting that went on when yours truly (presently in second place) voted for both the present leader’s photos in this month’s “Macro” competition! However, many people also voted for Rachel Lee’s first class submissions and as a result she is romping away in a much deserved pole position. Her winning photo entitled “Water Seed” was stunning. Even more fascinating was her description of the process she went through to achieve her very professional result. Her second shot entitled “Reflection” was an ingeniously thought out shot showing a water droplet on a leaf, which acted as a lens which in turn, captured a minute image of a blue and yellow flower in the distance. Brilliant work Rachel!
Carlton Greening was successful with a scarily intimate close up of a May Bug. Every little hair and scaly detail were in perfect focus and in fact remnants of the creature’s last meal could just be seen round it’s mouth. Beautiful colours and careful exposure settings gave Carlton a deserved third place.
Members were pleased to see new comer Ivan Ferguson gain fourth place with a really excellent close up image of his partner’s eye. The subtle tones of the print were superb and together with the pleasing detail in the iris, made this a turning point in Ivan’s competition work.
Dee Langmead’s patience paid off with an exquisite shot of a dragonfly resting on a vibrantly pink fuchsia. The detail was spot on, as was the exposure and composition making her fifth place well deserved.
There were a record number of entries this month with a wide range of ideas within the given subject. Again its pleasing to note that newcomers are embracing each of the challenges and featuring well in the results table. Next week is the ultimate challenge…A Self Portrait. Now, that could be fun, and rather difficult to remain anonymous!
